Singapore Airlines Pays Its Staff Bonus of 7.5 months

I have a friend who's been working in SIA for around 30 years.

Yesternight, she told us she's getting a bonus of 7.5 months.

For people who usually get only around 2 months of bonus, or lesser, each year from their company, this is depressing news.

It's even more depressing when no other company wants you when you think of changing job and moving on to another company. Either because you're too old or don't have the relevant educational qualifications or work experience. The only other option is to become a cabby. It certainly isn't easy being a cabby. Work so hard. Drive 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. No sick leave, can't claim medical expenses, etc.

Get complained against by passengers all the time. Price of diesel keeps going up. Taxi rentals forever remain high.

It's a dirty job. But somebody's got to do it.
