The Best Way To Keep A Friend

Don't lend him anything.
Don't owe him anything.
Especially money.

A person who likes to borrow money from people around him and is constantly in debt, is almost always avoided like a plague.

Well said. I agree with this part especially money.

It's really annoying that they keep coming back just to borrow money. When it's time for them to pay back they say "Oh no money" and all the crappy reason.

To Smarty Pants: So have you vowed never to lend your friend(s) any more money? Or do you feel bad after turning down a friend who tried to borrow money from you? :)

I don't feel bad after turning down a friend who tried to borrow money from me. I had enough of this. Either they don't payback due to crappy reason or keep coming back for more

One of my relative still owe me money and didn't pay back the amount of money she owe. What about you mockingbird?

To Smarty Pants: Although i have not really vowed never to lend anyone any money any more, i have turned down a couple of "friends" who tried to borrow money from me as i know chances of them ever repaying me are highly slim.

So we are essentially on the same boat. i don't mind giving a few dollars or a couple of ten dollars to help someone with his or her immediate need(s). But anything more than that, i'll think more than twice first.

Yes. few dollars or maybe $20 seems acceptable but amounts like $50 or hundred over? forget it.

After you get your diploma and degree, and you make $3k a month, you probably would not mind sparing $50 or $100 to a friend in need, provided he's not a leech who's always trying to borrow money from you without returning ;p

I'm too shy to borrow anything, even from my own siblings. As for lending, it's very difficult to say "no" to others.. but I've learnt to, though still feeling uneasy after that.

Money is the root of all evil.. lending/borrowing will certainly sour a relationship.

To Smarty Pants: You're right pal. It's hard to tell who's a real leech and who's a fake leech. Always better to err on the safe side. That is better not to lend and feel bad about it than to lend and be poorer later ;p

can lend even no return. giving is the utmost compassion. try and you will feel the "compassion". do it within your mean/tolerance.

A real leech and a fake leech is both a bad leech.

Learn it from me - have no friend. No need to fear about money-lending. Peaceful life throughout.

We need friends in life, pal. It's hard to achieve big dreams in life if we don't have friends whom we can rely on. A man becomes successful by relying on dependable friends.

Most of the time in life, we have to depend and rely on ourselves. But if we want to achieve anything of significance, like becoming a prime minister of a country, we need a team of friends whom we can count on.

Agree we need friends in life in order to achieve our goals.

Friends to count on and friends for networking. =)

I'm sure we guys can easily detect who's our fake friend. Follow your instinct.
