Ang Moh Kids Take Cab To Avoid Monkeys
My dad recounted to me how 2 ang-moh teenage school boys flagged down his cab
along Swiss Club Road.
They boarded his cab and asked to be dropped off after my dad's cab overtook some monkeys along the road.
These 2 ang-moh kids took his cab just to avoid the monkeys! And they wanted a free ride! But my dad insisted that they paid the fare. So instead of making them pay $2.50, he collected $2 from them. These kids became chickens in the sight of these monkeys and wanted to make a monkey of my dad by not paying him any fare. But my dad refused to let them have it their way.

These must be students from the schools inside there. I lived there for many years but did not see any monkeys then.
You moved from Swiss Club Road to Sengkang? That sounds like a big downgrade :o i see a lot mansions inside ;)
What? I've never thought things like this could happen.
Monkey not that scary, right?
Yeah, you can put it that way...going back to the place of my early childhood...one big circle in life!
To Xiao Ai: Yaloh. Monkeys where got scary? It's like some people are so afraid of stray cats. When the cats brush past their legs at a hawker center, they would scream and jump :p
To Joepsc: Looks like you've gone thru one big circle in life indeed :)
The small hill park between Bukit Panjang and the expressway is also infested with monkeys. Looking at your photos, I think it's the same species. And the residents who live next to the hill park keep feeding them. It's a tragedy going to happen.
To parka: These are common stray monkeys. i believe their species is the most common everywhere. Why do you say it's a tragedy going to happen? Do you think the monkeys will attack the humans or the other way round?
i saw a monkey in bukit panjang the other week.
i wonder if the increase in monkey sightings has anything to do with the plans to bring the population to 6 million?
To Mark: Yeah. Because of new residential projects that are eating into our nature reserves, i believe the monkeys might have been dislocated as a result :p
