McDonald's Mega Burgers

About a month ago, my colleague brought to my attention the mega burgers which Japan’s McDonald’s was selling. I looked at the burgers and was impressed by the size of the Sausage Egg McMuffin and Big Mac.

He asked why Singapore’s McDonald’s doesn’t serve the mega burgers as well.

So I forwarded the link of the Japan’s McDonald’s website of the mega burgers to Singapore McDonald’s on-line customer feedback and suggested that they serve the mega burgers here too. I explained that certain of their customers with bigger appetities are not filled and satisfied with the size of the regular burgers.

They replied they would look into my suggestion.

And wala, now we have the mega burgers in Singapore’s McDonald’s as well.

And Burger King has also joined McDonald's in offering mega burgers.

LJS stands for both Lao Jui Sai and Long John Silver. The latter has joined the mega burger craze as well, albeit later than its competitors. Hmm. Wonder when is KFC going to join this mega burger bandwagon.

Ok, now I know why they started to sell mega burgers. But seriously, how can a normal sized Singaporean finish one of these monsters? There's four beef patties in the mega big mac leh. Eeeek!

To Lin: Very efficient indeed :) i was a tad surprised they actually adopted my suggestion.

To LIS: You'd be surprised how some thin people have humongous appetities. i have a colleague who eats meals meant for 2 persons everyday during lunch :p

But as with all McDonald's so-called "new" product offerings, they always get phased out after a while.

Personally, i can finish the mega sausage egg McMuffin. But as for the Big Mac, i think it looks scary enuff to make me lose my appetite :p Haven't been a big fan of Big Mac for many years already :p Burger King's Whopper is better :)

In the late 80s and early 90s, there was the quarter pounder with a large thick beef patty. That was phased out too because of insufficient demand i guess.

Actually nowadays when we want mega burgers, we usually turn to Carl's Junior :)

Qtr pounder is no longer in Sgp McD's. I haven't been to McD's for a while so I wonder if this is also no longer on our menu. The burger I like most is their Prosperity Burger which is only on sale a month or two before CNY and will be available for just a few months. It's a rectangular meat patty dipped in delicious black-pepper sauce. Yum! There's a choice of beef and chicken. I prefer beef being more firm in texture.

Are real eggs used, do you think? Psst...you find out...

To HS: i think prosperity burger is nice too :)

i think real eggs are used. You mean McDonald's actually use synthetic eggs? :p

I know KFC served chicken meat of mutant chickens with no eyes and legs. Mutant chickens that are bred just for the sole purpose of being fried by KFC and eaten :p

To HS: Thanks for telling me that KFC mutant chicken is just an untrue urban legend :)
