An Expensive Trip To A Car Accessories Shop
Wanted to get a CD player that can play MP3 files for my car. The beauty about MP3 files is you can store at least over a hundred songs onto one CD instead of the usual below 20 for normal CD audio files. This is accomplished by compressing normal CD audio files into about one-tenth of their original size. Thus playing 1 CD with 120 MP3 songs on it with such a player is equivalent to having a CD changer that plays 10 normal audio CDs.

Got the Sony CDX-F7710 for $380 plus $30 for installation. Got the model because of its screensaver feature. Sony calls it the ID3Tag.
After the boss of Sung Beng opened the bonnet of my car and did some inspection. He noticed all the spark plugs and cables, etc. were worn out, so he changed the air-filter, air-con filter, spark plugs and cables. After all these changes, my car's acceleration and the air quality inside the car improved. When i first went inside the shop, I originally wanted to spend only around $300 on an MP3 CD player. In the end, i was made over a thousand dollars poorer when i left the shop.
Lesson learned: It's better to buy the stuff you really need at a car accessories shop and install them yourself than to expose your car to the boss or staff of such a shop. As these people are primarily out to get your money, they will go to great lengths to convince you of the need to change various parts of your car.

Lesson learnt:
Must do a full maintenance to your car to improve its performance and air-quality for better health. Money spent is worth for it.
I like that Sony audio, by the way.
To Emperor Liu: i would spend tons on the car if it's the only thing i have to take care of. But i have other things to take care of as well, my flat, my son, myself, etc.
It's a pretty cool gadget, you should get one for your Verna too. Better still, get a DVD player cum LCD screen inside your car ;)
One must learn to say "NO" and it will save quite a lot of money and heartache. I too learned it the hard way like you!
Better to avoid such places of business altogether. Then don't have to waste your breath saying "NO" repeatedly :p
Congrats on making the switch, i did that years ago.
now is the beginning to worry on what songs to burn, renaming the files and more to follow...
nevertheless changing the air filter and spark plugs are requirement if its worn out. no worries...
your car is re-born!! better pain one time than many times...the boss didnt ask you to change speakers and add subwoofer, amp?
To Leonard: The fact of the matter is: You're financially better off than me with fewer commitments to take care of since you're not married yet.
The only difference my car has now is its acceleration is slightly better. Petrol consumption is still about the same, whatever real improvement is strictly negligible ;p
Good thing the boss didn't ask me to change speakers, add subwoofer and amplifier, otherwise i would definitely be dead broke ;p
The Boss of Sung Beng is Frankie. He is a very dishonest person. He omitted installing the wire harness and relay when installing my Philips HID lamp. Now the lamps are completely spoil after 1.5 yrs. He requested to buy another set....where got like this do business one!!!
To Antz: Thank you for exposing Frankie of Sung Beng. Not only does he use hard-sell tactics, he actually shoves stuff, which you didn't ask for, inside your car and make you pay for them :p Unscruplous bugger! :(
