Oppression

Have you wondered what is the actual production cost of one HDB flat unit?

I believe it could be way below the actual selling price which HDB charges the buyer.

Notwithstanding the HDB’s claim that the prices of its flats are subsidised.

Can you imagine with economies of scale, the production cost of a single 4-room flat unit is only maybe around $100,000 or lower and HDB is charging at least around $200,000 for it?

Would you consider this a form of oppression?

Even though healthcare is supposedly subsidised, there are still Singaporeans who chalk up huge debts from hospitalisation bills and pass these debts down to their children to pay off after they have passed on.

It’s an extra totally unwanted financial burden especially on an average salaried Singapore worker who already has his own family to feed and support.

Such debts can be crippling. They are capable of driving poor people into depression. Some of these poor people even take their own lives because they are sick and tired of bearing the burden of debt which they can’t see any way of paying off.

Any death by suicide, be it by jumping off a block of flats, or onto an MRT track (causing huge inconvenience to commuters), is one death too many.

To cope with the rising fuel cost, the Malaysian government raised the price of its fuel by over 40% and cut the pay of its civil servants by 10%.

In Singapore, fuel is never subsidised. In fact, petrol tax here stands at a hefty 40%. When times are bad, our ministers who enjoy super-high salaries don’t get pay cut. They only don’t get increment.

What is the only solace that we have? Life on earth is only temporary, so are its troubles, woes and sorrows.

So will the injustices suffered in this life ever be put right?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a believer or not. The answer is: Yes, of course. Even if it takes an eternity before an injustice is put right.

Of course that’s no solace for someone who wants to see justice being served on the evil-doers before he’s dead and gone.

Likewise, regardless of whether one is a believer or not, he has to meet his Maker after he dies.

Everyone is entitled to his beliefs. No one should ever force his belief(s) on anyone around him.

People who feel they have been oppressed vote for the opposition parties during election days. Not because they support the opposition, but because they are opposed to the governing party whom they feel have rip them off.

You use desktop? I thought you use your new laptop?

Mockingbird: Are you having financial problem lately? Liu has already say why some of our HDB is $200,000.

Liu already said earlier on. Not all death are cause by debts or the poor decision to kill him/her-self.

Granted. Not all sucides are debt related. But you can't deny the fact that most if not many of them are due to depression caused by lack of finances.

"MB: What’s the cause of the power-trip in your flat?"
Well I think it's due to overcurrent usage in his house. I have similar situation like him while doing my school assignment few weeks ago. Luckily my laptop battery is fully charge.

"You won’t understand what I’m going thru unless you’re me. Just as I won’t understand what you’re going thru unless I’m you. Even though I did go thru Ngee Ann Polytechinc before and did have some similar experience that you’re going thru now."
Hmm understood just like the ERP gantries/charges. I don't own a car so I can't say much except it's to control the traffic congestion. Well it did partially success.

the erection of more ERP gantries extension of ERP hours and raising of ERP rates results in more cursing and swearing against the gahmen and more people taking the MRT. Those who leave their car at home and take MRT are those who don't need to use their car in the course of their work as they stay in their office the whole day.

20% only ah? That means 80% have not converted their ordinary cars into OPCs. Duh.

On certain days, i need to drive to town during office hours to run errands. Wld i still do it if the company refused to let me claim the $20 day coupon? I think the company wld tell me to take cab instead of using my own OPC to run some errands.

You just can't accept the fact that i have different perspectives from you, can you? You sound so much like a sore loser. Since you can judge me in whatever way you like, why i can't do likewise?

You should remain a atheist fool all your life so that you would end up down there someday.

I accept people who have opionions that differ from mine. But you don't seem to be able to do just that. You want to be all anal right? Fine, i shall be likewise.

To Liu Huang Di: As long as you can't restrain yourself from posting offensive comments on my blog, i would have no choice but to delete them.

As much as you hate to have others shoving stuff you don't believe in, down your throat, so i have to delete comments which i deem undesirable, which you seem ever so fond of shoving down my throat even though i have told you countless times to stop it.

You don't want to see your comments deleted right? Then don't post offensive ones lah. Aiyah. So simple also don't understand. I don't mind you showing opinions that differ from mine. i only ask that you keep them un-offensive. Is that too much to ask of you?

As long as i have to keep on deleting your offensive comments, it goes to show that my simple request simply isn't getting into your seemingly big, impenetrable and thick head.
