Why Cabbies Prefer Malay Passengers
Even though i have only been driving for less than a month, i have noticed the passengers that i have been picking up comprised more of Malays than Chinese.
This caused me to deduce that Malays are generally more willing than Chinese to spend money on taking taxis to where they want to go.
Then i heard another side of the story. It's a religious one. As Chinese are unbelievers, they are considered to be spiritually unclean. So our good friends are not keen on squeezing with the heathen either on a crowded MRT train or a packed bus.
This is why they would either buy their own car or take taxis to travel around.
Why do cabbies prefer Malay passengers? Simply because they are more courteous and polite than Chinese. Generally it's the Chinese who are more "gao jare" (fussy in Hokkien). The male Chinese are more likely to anal assholes while the female Chinese are more likley to be bitchy bitches. They are the ones who make a cabby's life miserable.
Malays are more "chin chye" (easy-going in Hokkien).
Cabbies are thankful for this. Or at least they ought to be.
Enough said.

Happy Lunar New Year.
(still got a few more days left :-) )
The other side of the story is interesting. Hmmm...
To Keropok Man: Have a happy & prosperous lunar new yourself too! :D
That's a very interesting insight about Malay customers. Where'd you hear this analysis from? LOL!
To LIS: I heard from this analysis from my godfather who's in his 70s :p
He used to own a construction company and had people from various races working for him.
Over here, when non-Muslims offer food (even cookies) to Muslims, almost ALL will decline so we normally don't offer now. Some people refrain from inviting them to CNY open-houses these days. What's the point? They won't eat yr food, won't even drink from yr glass! That's how polarised the community is here now. This happened only a few years ago. Sad.
whatever the person was, the most important thing was to treat all the customers the same service..not easy..but when in service line..you have to do that..cheers
MB,
a suggestion.. put a sign that says "I'm not a heathen nor a pagan" and play some keroncong music in your cab haha..
How MB. How are you? Hope all's well. Missing your updates..
BTW, what kind of model do you drive? Has your Malay improve?
To HS: I guess it would help if we offered halal food to our muslim friends if we ever invite them to any of our banquets :)
To Joepsc: Dear friend, i have no idea whatsoever how does keroncong music sound like at all :p
To HS: It's hard to update the blog when everyday you have to drive up to 12 hours. At the end of the day, i'm just too dead tired to be even checking my e-mail, let alone blogging :p
to SF: I'm driving the Sonata. It's much easier to drive than the Crown. The Crown's manual transmission has given me leg cramps especially when i had to step on the half clutch for hours during traffic jams. The Sonata's auto transmission is a godsend :)
of course.. taxi drivers do have their mis-guided theories about just every topic under the sun :)
