Why not try using an DSLR?
I have took smiliar photo with my Nikon D40.

I would use get a DSLR if i can afford one. If you ever get tired of playing with your Nikon D-40 and get another more advanced DSLR and want to sell your old DSLR away, let me know, maybe i can buy from you :)
