A Daily Simple Pleasure

One of the things I look forward to doing every weekday morning is to wash my car before I start work. It's one of those tasks which I consider a daily simple pleasure. As my office does not have any sheltered car park for non-management staff, my car is exposed to the elements, the sunlight, rainwater and dust all day long.

That's why each time it rains in the morning when I'm supposed to wash my car, it would spoil my day a bit.

This morning, as I was queing up to get a free copy of TODAY, an old man cut my queue. I tapped on his shoulder and told him off,

“Uncle, please queue up!”
“But I'm only taking one copy.”
“If you want to cut queue, cut behind me, don't cut in front of me!”
“Okay lah. Okay lah.”

Then he moved his ass behind me in the queue.

Someday when I become a senior citizen myself, I would never cut people's queue like that. If I want to get anything in a queue, I jolly well join the queue like everybody else. I have no right whatsoever to cut people's queue just because I'm an old man.

Queing up for something is a very basic social grace. But some Sinkies are just so sorely lacking in it. And I'm not even talking about workers from mainland China.

This uncle is siao one. Usually these kind of old men will bully young women because they know the ladies will let them jump the queue. This guy chose the wrong person to bully lah. Hahahaha....

Eh, Mockingbird, I heard that if you wash your car too often, it's actually worse for the paint work leh...

To LIS: Would you let the siao uncle jump your queue? Or would you tell him off like i did and tell him to get in line? :p

My car already has some permanent irremovable rain stain. I spent close to $200 on car waxing and polishing trying to get rid of the rain stain but to no avail.

i would probably wash my car only once a week if i have a basement car park both at work and at home :p

But my car is exposed to the elements day in day out both at home and at the office, so i have no choice but to keep it clean on a daily basis. At least on weekdays.

Afterall, i'm not the only one who washes my car everyday. Those people who park at HDB car parks also get Indian car washers to wash their cars every night :p

To Serene: yaloh. We have be nice 1st if we want people to respect us.

To Snake: Yaloh. Bad behavior gets passed on from one generation to another :p

Is that why you are washing your car daily? You have such a sexy assistant? :p

You really take good care of your car. Good for you.

i wish i have such a sexy assistant. Ha, ha, ha...! :D

Actually my car is not that well-taken care of by me becos it still has some permanent irremovable rain stain! :(

Aiyah... I can't be bothered with stupid old men. If I've been queuing for a long time, I'd probably shout at him. But if it's just a short queue, I just close one eye lah.

I don't mine if she wash my car and i just polished (her/car) afterward :-)

Seriously, i used to wash my car every few days when teh car was new and you ahve all those paint protection system on it so you try to clear every stains or dust from you ride and it does look so shinning everywhere you go.

After we moved to HDB flats with no shelter cover (no MSCP carpark either) washing now is like a plutonic relationship (i.e every 2-3 months)...So hoping for heavy rain every few weeks to clear all the bird & tree stains.

As for the old people cutting queue, i actually do not mind if they ask me politely and i will let them go if i'm in your situations. Getting on & sitting on train is a different story as all the time i will just let them be....guess not easy being old.

To LIS: The queue is long, everyone is rushing to go to work. i think you would probably tell the old man off too :p

To Ming: i don't think any man would mind at all having a beautiful, sexy blonde in a skimpy bikini, washing his car :p

These old men who cut queue usually never ask politely for your permission to let them cut queue. They just cut your queue as if it's their God-given right to do so :p
